ABOUT ME

Member name:
W.V.Panhead
About Me:
I'm a Panhead, which is pretty obvious, I suppose. My two favorite Christian bands are Skillet (of course) and Jars of Clay. I am an aspiring author, so writing novels and keeping a journal are two of my favorite things, as is reading. Although I'm not much into sports, I really enjoy watching hockey, and my favorite team in the NHL is the Columbus Blue Jackets. Yet as much I love all of the things listed above, the most important fact that anyone should know about me is that I am a Christian, and I am serious about my relationship with God. He has guided me through the happy times and the not-so-happy times; I know He will never leave me or forsake me, and I look forward to the unique plans He has for my life (Jeremiah 29:11).
Hobbies:
I'm an aspiring author, so typing novels and keeping a journal are two things I do in my free time. I have a passion for reading, as well, and an even deeper passion for music. On top of all this, I enjoy watching the Columbus Blue Jackets during hockey season.
Favorite Bands:
Skillet and Jars of Clay tie as my two ultimate favorite bands, although Sixpence None The Richer, The Hawk In Paris, and Flyleaf all come as close seconds. My favorite songs by each band, in their respective order, are as follows: "Those Nights"; "Closer"; "There She Goes"; "Curse the Love Songs"; and "Missing."
Country:
United States
Name:
Kristen
Twitter Name:
I don't have a Twitter account.
What's Your Favorite Movie Or TV Show?:
I don't really watch TV much, other than Blue Jackets hockey.
What's Your Favorite Book?:
A handful of my favorite novels... "When the Soul Mends" by Cindy Woodsmall; "Ever After" by Karen Kingsbury; "True Light" by Terri Blackstock; "Under the Northern Lights" by Tracie Peterson; "Like Gold Refined" by Janette Oke; "Lonestar Sanctuary" by Colleen Coble; "Wild Horses" by Linda Byler; The Rose Trilogy by Beverly Lewis
One Interesting Fact About Me Is...:
My three favorite things in God's creation are the splendor of the Appalachain Mountains beneath a sunny blue sky; myriad birds flocking around the feeders in my yard; and a full moon on a crystal clear winter night. I love nature, and I love my home state. The list of things I love about those two could go on forever, but I decided to narrow it down for your sake, Panheads. :P

It's all good. Glad your trip went well!

I'm doing pretty poorly actually :(

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Lol, that's really funny... I've actually ha d just about the exact same thing going on with my writing! Hehehe we must have parallel situations... :)

Um, what do you mean exactly about co-writing??? I don't remember exactly what I said, but I don't think I'm working with others in general... Guess I'm a little lost!

Anyway thanks for everything, Kristen! I also enjoy chatting, and I hope your trip continues well! :)

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Wow! That's super excitin'! I hope you have fun, good luck :)

Actually, I haven't worked on my stories in forever... :/ Because of the SAT that is coming up, I've had to study a lot and I have big projects at school :p However, I am hoping that this weekend I might start some new stories / ways of writing old ideas out, there's this author's webiste where I might post them online! My friend's coming over this weekend to sleep over and she might help me! :D (she writes too).

What about you? :)

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Oh, and sorry I forgot about Creation!

The job I have had every year is just a simple "wristband checker". You stand at the gate and check to see everyone has a ticket, and you can also watch to see that people don't enter through the exit or exit through the entrance ;)

It seems like a poor job, I know; but it's actually very enjoyable! I personally love smiling at everyone who passes through, especially those who look as if they need encouragement! I have also made signs with encouraging notes on them that I hold up for people to see, in the past; and that is always a real blessing! :) It's very fun to work :)

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Wow! That is SO dang awesome! :D

Lucky ;) Yes, I have been to Gettysburg, it's actually why I created my story! :) My family went on a trip to the East Coast in May 2011. And like I said, I really want to go again! :)

Last day of high school ever? That sounds so amazing!!! :D So excited for you, soundin' like some cool plans :)

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Thank you Kristen! :)

Well, I don't really have any huge plans,,, I'm gonna be working at Creation Festival Northwest as usual, even though Skillet won't be there :p After all, it is right in my own hometown...

I'm also going to my senior high church camp again :)

I wanted to go to Gettysburg for the 150th anniversary this year (I love the Civil War, I have this entire novel about it and Gettysburg... It's about a girl who runs away disguised as a soldier-corny, cliched, yes- but awesome!)

But my mom won't take me on the actual battle days, she says it will be too mobbed. I don't care, but she does :p

So if we go, it won't be on July 1-4 :p What about you? Any good plans? :)

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Great, that's awesome! And yes, I agree! I love that we are such a big family :)

I never knew that about the site though, since I'm so new and all.. ( I found the forums this January) That's interesting...

Kay was the one who got me ADDICTTED to the butterflies; she and Katelynn have been doing it longer than me ;)

Anyroad, I wanted to say thank you for all your support, latley, Kristen. You and this whole community really mean a lot to me <3

tictacthedrumchick's picture

No Problem! So how have you been these days?

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Thanks Kristen, those are great words to remember for sure! :)

I try to think that way, it's just been hard for me lately is all... I dunno. Sorry I'm not thinking very well right now, tired :p And sorry I havent been on the site that much, I've been kind of busy with the last month of school and everything :p
I have to take the SAT on June 1 :p Dunno if I've mentioned that already, sorry :p

Anyroad, I'm sure you know who Kay (Jay) is. She's the one who taught me about the butterflies. :) When you want to cut, you draw butterflies on your wrist. You name them after caring friends who want you to heal and who love you a lot! Then, if you cut, you'll kill the butterfly. So it helps you not want to hurt yourself. I've been drawing my butterflies these past two months, and they've helped me a ton! <3

Hey! I found this just a minute ago, and I thought you might be interested.
http://noisetrade.com/jarsofclay
Noisetrade is a website where artists can put their own music online for free, so everything on this site is legal downloads. Knowing your love for Jars of Clay I thought you would want to know about this.

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Hey, how are you? I'm glad you enjoy AN! Those lyrics you singled out actually reminded me of my current headphones that need to be replaced. ;) Anyway, I'll get back to you soon with a longer post. These time constraints are killing me! In fact, I'm heading to bed now.

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Wow. Well, that's a lot to take in; it really hurt me at first to hear that you struggled with something so difficult! I'm really sorry you had to go through that. Anyway, I've struggled with food my whole life, I've never had any official disorders or anything but I eat too much and I'm super fat and ugly. I hate my body, which makes me want to hate myself sometimes... But anyroad I'm so glad you were able to get out of that and that God helped you! :)

And thank you for the support and encouragement :) It means a lot, and I will definitely look up those songs when I next can! :)
By the way, would you mind if I drew a butterfly for you? :) You know about the butterflies, right?

Thanks Kristen! <3

CarpetBakr's picture

My brothers and I occasionally play a game ourselves, and it's a lot of fun!

By the way, I FINALLY got TobyMac's Eye On It!! I'm LOVING it.
Also...sorry for such a long comment! :P

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Hmm, I think that's a lame album...

CarpetBakr's picture

Yeah! Yesterday was her 4th Birthday, as a matter of fact! My younger bro got her some doggie donuts, I got her jerky bone treats, my older bro got her a new squeaking tennis ball-which she promptly destroyed, as with her other toys-and we had a blast! :D

Boy, you can say that again. I normally LOVE Winter-it's my favorite season of all-but I'm Sick of it and ready for a Springtime Rebirthing! :P (That was terrible, I know) Yes, things are finally turning green. Although, it WAS rainy last Thursday.
If April showers bring May flowers, then what do May flowers bring?
Pilgrims.
:D XD

Of course! :) Hmm. Well, there's always the summer to catch up on reading! I know what you mean. Sometimes it's just good to take a break from your life. Just don't let that lethargic feeling overtake you, it is WAY too easy to fall behind!!

Just remember, Homeschooling is a unique opportunity to bond with your family through education and experiences, and it's those things that won't leave you, even if you're a hundred miles away at an unfamiliar place. :)
I see. Well, being a mere Freshman and therefore having little or no career/College-choosing experience, I can't give you much advice! :P But, I will listen to (or rather, read) you and tell you this- Acts 2:26-27: "You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in Your presence." God's got it all figured out, and won't leave you in the dark for long! :) If it is His will that you go to College; He will make sure you do. If it isn't; then your education will lie elsewhere! I'm sure you'll figure it out! :)

:/ I'm sorry you're feeling down. If it's any condolence…the Hawks lost a game on Sunday to the Islanders in an epic way. They just all-around stunk! >_< Terrible offense, horrible defense, terrible shots, just a general mediocre play. Crawford is the only reason the score was finally 2-3, otherwise it would've been more like 2-16! O_O You can always start your own game of Hockey!

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Definitely! Um, just that I won't mess up, I guess.. I'll be at two months in a few days! <3

It's been a bit challenging, as I talked about before, but I've been ok. But after hating myself for so long, it's not like I can change overnight. When I screw up in public or something, or hurt someone, and then get upset with myself, it's difficult not to turn to my razor, to not be able to release my intense rage and feel better. It's also extremely difficult even not to look in the mirror and think "ugly, fat, stupid, worthless, selfish, b****". So basically just that I would continue to get better and that I would feel loved and accepted, especially when I hurt. Also, I've been exhausted off and on lately, so also that I would not be tired and that I would have the strength, courage, and peace for school and responsibility.

Hey, thanks so much for your concern! :)

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Oh, I'm sorry Kristen. That is really tough. :/

Do you need me to pray for anything? :)

I have a few senior friends right now, and I'm already scared as a junior, so I get the concept...

I'm not doing too well, but I'm alright, don't worry or anything...

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Yes, it's very cool !!! ;)

I definitely agree with that understanding of writing; it's one of my own beliefs as well.. Anyway God has at least helped me understand that before! ;) and I love writing emotional stuff, idk why.. Maybe God put that in me so that I could use it... :p

anyroad, hope youre doin' well :) I havent asked you how you are in a while! xD

CarpetBakr's picture

Oh, dear...that's a LOT! Don't overwork yourself, we'd hate to lose one of our best members due to an imploded brain! ;) Pace yourself and stay strong! :D What're you thinking about doing for college? Any particular classes you'll be taking/might be taking?

:/ Sad that you're leaving school and all your teachers, and some of your friends, yet happy to be done with High School at long last? Seems like a mixed blessing! You'll have fun in college, though! :) Meet new people, take fun classes, and-I have NO idea why this is so appealing to me-have a DORM!! :D
That's a good way to look at it! Hooray for optimism! :D That's really cool though, and a HUGE improvement! They have a lot to proud of, going from dead last to eighth place. Sounds like a great season for them! :)

I've been good! Taken with a serious case of SPRING FEVER!! Having LOTS of fun playing outside with Bitsy, chasing after rabbits, and throwing around one of her (I counted them this morning) 11 tennis balls. XD Right now, she's begging for me to take her out....so I'll talk to you later! Have a blessed week! :)

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Thats cool, I understand that.. especially the part about people not understanding your emotions :p

I did start a journal a while back, actually I just don't write in it a whole lot. Usually when I need to express my emotions, I just use fiction. It works great... I choose one of my characters and start pouring out all my frustrations and lonliness through their experiences... Some days, I don't even realize what I am doing until I finish reading what I wrote! :p But for me, fiction has always been very dramatic, deep and emotional. I love writing about suicide, cutting, abuse, drinking, and other dark situaitons I feel could relate to pain. I hope it's not wrong, i've just always written about that sort of thing, because I can realte in my own ways to the feeling. I like to celebrate the healings too..

Comatose53's picture

The Jackets had one heck of a run going at the end of the season... I honestly thought they would make the playoffs. Still, considering where they finished a year ago, this year has been a huge turnaround.

CarpetBakr's picture

Yes, it has! Over a month now...I'm so sorry. :( I haven't had much time to be online, what with an onslaught of Spring fever and numerous projects that kept me pretty occupied. I'm back now though, and hopefully for a while! :D
How are you?? Skillet.com's changed quite a bit, but the attitude is still the same. I'm glad that most of our senior members are still around!

Heartonmysleeve's picture

I totally get that! I've always hated when people tell me what to write. it always kills my inspiration. :p

In fact, I've been so lazy lately, that whatever I write has been sloppy. Like, I will just write whatever I feel like, however I feel like... xD

Anyways, I do love stories and I am very excited because my next story is about Voltage! ;)

Heartonmysleeve's picture

That's good. Haha I actually got caught in a rainy thunder storm on Friday night. Me and two friends were running to get somewhere, and we were running through the cold driving rain and the wind; and the thunder was just like BOOMING and I was just thinking to myself "this is TOTALLY epic!" However, by the time one of are youth leaders came to the rescue with our van, we were completely drenched! xD

Oh yeah! I am totally stoked for that! They're a bit slower, not too much however. At my school we're kinda just scrambling now to catch up in time for the end of the year and finish the yearly agenda! However, I do have spring break this week!

Totally stoked for that!!! <3 <3 <3

sorry I took a while to respond. I was at a talent competition in Idaho. I actually one a college scholarship for the short story I wrote lol :D

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

It's been all right. The home stretch in school hasn't quite arrived yet; it will soon though after these accursed papers are finished.

Wow, you really dig Flyleaf! They're a great band, that's for sure.

Yeah, SoI (Sick of It) has some really prominent electronic sounds. It's the heaviest song Skillet's released since Live Free as well. #AlienYouthCollideandAwake
Criticism of Skillet is actually a major exasperation to me, especially when most of the people are morons.

So, April 9 is becoming a prestigious date, huh? ;) You really deemed them your favorite band after one concert haha? I guess you had finally received a dose of epic music when that night concluded. ;P

Ahh, graduation... I have no desire to entertain such thoughts. You are overwhelming me with your maturity!
Just kidding, of course. Still, I wish I could provide some legitimate advice concerning those decisions, but I'm not quite there yet. Ha. Home schoolers in my state have to take an achievement test, as they call it, in third, fifth, and eighth grade. In my most recent one, I scored a 99 in Language. In fact, I was almost perfect! I'm not bragging, but it really astonished me haha.

drummerboy13's picture

I'm sorry, I HATE algebra.

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Hey Kristen. Long time no talk ._.

How goes it? (sorry for the (non) weird grammar. Microsoft Word 2010 would take that sentence and underline it for "verb confusion" ) ;)

drummerboy13's picture

I'vebeen ok, how about you? I am nervous and exited, I and my two brothers are going to be confirmed in a week. Questioning is tomorrow. . .

drummerboy13's picture

I have not been on in a while, so: hi!!!

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Hi, Kristen! How are you this weekend?

So, "Memento Mori" is a concept album? I wouldn't know honestly. Bet you're glad I recommended it, huh? ;)

So, is "Sick of It" fantastic or what?! I don't own the song but have listened to it on YouTube probably over fifty times now. :) It's definitely a blend of "Alien Youth," "Collide," and "Awake," in my opinion. Some of the critics are actually becoming less and less "sick of it." ;) (The song is growing on them, that is.)

God bless! (Not trying to be cliché here haha.)

Comatose53's picture

If Jimmy Howard (my favorite player) was to go to another team, I'm pretty sure I'd feel the same way. The players are a source of interest, but the team comes first. :)

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Fortunately for me, Tom Brady of the Patriots signed an extension with the team to remain with them for the remainder of his career. So, barring an injury or major decline in play, he's there to stay. :)

Comatose53's picture

Same deal here. I really thought that Columbus would make some big splashes. Anyways, now that Mason is in Philly, will you start following the Flyers?

Comatose53's picture

I changed from 24 to 53 so it would match my jersey number. The only reason I chose 24 was because I follow NASCAR and Jeff Gordon, haha... now he's not my favorite driver anymore, so I decided now would be a good time to change. I've been wanting to do that for a while. :)

I'm very excited to see the Wings in the Winter Classic again! It reminds me of the first hockey game I ever saw - it was back when the Wings were playing the Blackhawks in the 2009 WC. Even though I was watching on television, I became hooked on the sport. Since the Wings won that game, I decided they would be my team. So this upcoming WC is going to bring back some memories for me!

tictacthedrumchick's picture

IKR!! But it seems as though the Skillet Web Crew is almost non-existent now, so almost nothing can be done about this situation..

tictacthedrumchick's picture

I believe that's the way it is in TN too. not sure about that though because I'm athletically challenged myself.

tictacthedrumchick's picture

I finished all of my "real" schoolwork last semester. All I have in high school left to do is physical education, which is really stupid for homeschooling, but the Tennessee education board requires it because if it wasn't required than there would be something that public schools had to do that home schooling didn't require.

tictacthedrumchick's picture

Honestly, it hasn't been easy lately. And yes it is nice to finally be considered legal at times, but other times I have to keep in mind that I have to watch what I can do because as a legal adult I can be sued lol.

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Oh yeah. That's something I'm sick of as well.

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Nice. Is there one word to describe all that? :P

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Add self-loathing to that list.

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

:)

I'm sick of judging, vanity, and peer pressure, among other things. What about you?

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

The "Sick of It" teaser is now available! Go to Skillet's homepage to find it!

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Hi, Kristen. Sorry, I hadn't commented on essentially anyone's profile until tonight. How are you? I'm feeling kind of down right now, so I'd rather not type a lengthy comment or anything. Not to mention I can seldom find time to respond to all these comments on my profile.

Still excited for "Rise"? The new single drops in a month. You should check the Skillet members' Twitter pages. They are providing hints as to what "Sick of It" is about. Also, some new Skillet lyrics on the new album are the following:

"Can't change the past, but I can fight to change today."

drummerboy13's picture

Thanks! :)

drummerboy13's picture

Not much, just anxiously anticipating my b-day. . . gonna e 14! :)

drummerboy13's picture

T'sup?

tictacthedrumchick's picture

hey

Comatose53's picture

I sure hope they will! I always enjoy watching them play each other. :) Like you, I was a bit surprised that ti even passed at first... apparently the league tried to pass it once but failed. So it was a bit surprising to me that they got it done so quickly in this second attempt.

Comatose53's picture

So what do you think of the new NHL conferences/divisions? The Wings and Jackets are going to be playing on the East Coast next season.
