Skillet brings fire to 10-artist, sold-out show Winter Jam 2012

on April 10, 2012 - 2:38pm

"Skillet's opening "Whispers in the Dark" was anything but, with loud bursts of sound, flame, flurry and lights following an overture by energetic string players Tate Olsen and Jonathan Chu before the band itself emerged to take up the anthem. Lead singer John Cooper was in a fine mood, bantering with the crowd more than usual between his band's rock forays. On "Hero," smoky jets fired from the front of the stage as well as from columns placed around the edge of the arena floor."

Skillet's John Cooper talks about WinterJam event at BOK

on February 23, 2012 - 11:01am

"We don't change for our crowds," Cooper said during a recent telephone interview. "We are who we are. We're an established act, and people know what they're getting when they come to one of our shows. People relate to our music. It's a good thing that we're a pretty straight-up rock act." However, he admitted: "Our band does have two sides, and our fans diverge in age from 5 to grandma age. We have a genuine old-school-rocker and young-fan following. ... It's good to play a tour like WinterJam, though, where we can play to the full spectrum of our fans. It's popular, too.

New Skillet Blog!

on February 21, 2012 - 2:38pm

Hello our lovely, amazing fans!

Life is wonderfully crazy these days!  Trying to juggle kids, husband, friends, shows, demos, new gear, etc. can be quite demanding but as I said it is a wonderfully crazy season.  This year began with one of the best tours I've ever been on: Winterjam.  I mean who can complain about a sold out arena tour?  Certainly not me!!  There is a lot of space backstage so we usually have a dressing room...which means we actually get to take showers...So yeah, I've been smelling good for the last month and haven't had to use my dry shampoo much.

A rockin’ ministry: Winter Jam Tour Spectacular is big

on February 14, 2012 - 4:08pm

The Winter Jam Tour Spectacular 2012 is big. Really big. The arena tour puts popular Christian rock and pop bands alongside singer-songwriters and, with the diverse offerings, draws a huge crowd. The 2011 tour outpaced attendance for all other tours in the first quarter, including Bon Jovi, U2 and Lady Gaga, according to Pollstar.

This year, organizers expect it to be bigger.
