ABOUT ME

Hey, I'm Korey Cooper. I'm from Kenosha, WI and was born on July 21. I have been touring with Skillet for 12 years...freaky. I am the second of five siblings and believe it or not I am the quiet, introspective one. I love my Italian roots though I rarely ever eat pasta:) I have two lovely children and a fantastically productive husband and thus explains most of my time outside of work. I love working out, new recipes, throwing parties, silence, serving, rocking and all things music. I love teaching my children and mostly learning from them:) I love my wonderful family and friends, and my Lord who defines and directs me with patience, love and discipline.

Favorite Movie Or TV Show

Favorite things to watch are anything on the Food Network, Law and Order, Heroes, Word Girl and the Bourne trilogy...and of course my husband rocking the stage:)

Favorite Book

I love reading books - not particularly fond of fiction, but I'm into theology, philosophy and history - and usually prefer classic authors. My favorites would be Dietrich Bonhoeffer, St. Augustine, Oswald Chambers and A.W. Tozer.

One Interesting Fact About Me Is...

My favorite qualities are courage, hope, determination and authenticity.. pet peeves would be their antonyms. A few points on my 'bucket list' would be to see the Olympic games, Yo Yo Ma in concert and a Food Network cake challenge. A little known fact about me is that I would like to try my hand at farming. Favorite snacks are fresh fruit, Swedish fish, peanut butter M&Ms and Dove caramels.

My birthday is July 21st, too, Korey! :) Nice to meet a fellow Cancer who loves to play guitar. I'm the same exact way and am learning Skillet songs! Plus, it's a perfect way to witness to my instructor about Jesus Christ.

I was introduced to Skillet back in October 2011 when I turned my life over to Christ for the true and real time. I grew up in a "Christian" home and church all my life, but never gave Him my entire life, and the piled up mistakes prove my former lost-ness. All that's behind me now. When I discovered Skillet, I was in real need for some rocking good Christian bands, but I was a bit hesitant due to my belief that good Christian rock wasn't possible (I'm 35 years old and have seen the evolution of Christian music). How wrong I was! I've been hooked every since and own every album. Your songs are part of my gym workout playlist (Energy, Savior, Rebirthing, Whispers in the Dark, Collide, Dead Inside, Believe, Forgiven...one of my all-time favorites that describes my life and attitude now, and even some of the secular-feeling ones like Should've When You Could've and Don't Wake Me). Awesome music and I hope to learn the guitar parts well enough to rock like you.

Lastly, I think it's great that you and John find a way to keep family first. I suppose being in the band together is the perfect way to do that! My fiance and I are kind of in the same boat. She's beautiful, can sing, and is super-supportive of me. Once we're married, I think God will use us in music to reach our circle of influence. You're an inspiration and my prayer is that you maintain your focus on God first, so the world doesn't take you down. It's easy to get sucked in these days.

how do you stand to get up in front of people? I had to sing in front of my church Sunday, i got out 2 sylabels. I couldn't stand it. I've always hated to get up in front of people, and we only have about 30 people there. You have to stand up in front of a few thousand people many times a week. How can you stand it?

Guys, you guys shouldn't have let Ben go... The band just really isn't the same without him. I saw you guys live in Grand Rapids a couple years ago, and also at the last Big Ticket Festival, and his replacement guitarist is really nothing special. I know that you don't like fiction but my favorite books EVER are This Present Darkness and Piercing The Darkness by Frank E. Peretti. They're Philosophical and Theology-y. Hi. My name is Kristen, and I have been a fanatic fan of Skillet for probably a year and a half now...ever since I saw you and the rest of the band perform in Huntington, West Virginia, on the Awake Tonight Tour on April 9, 2010. I must say that until that night I wasn't too impressed with your music, primarily because I wasn't into rock. But something in me changed the night I saw you guys rock out on stage (and the day before, when I first listened to my now-favorite Skillet song, "Those Nights"!). Where I live, most people don't believe there's such a thing as Christian rock music, but then again, they haven't really heard Skillet...Truly, your music has uplifted me, comforted me, strengthened me, and even at times convicted me in my walk with the Lord. There was a really dark time in my life, when I kept feel as if I were failing in my walk with Jesus, and then I really got into the song "Whispers in the Dark," which I'd heard many, many times, but never really listened to before. That has to be without a doubt the most powerful Skillet song ever...for me, anyway. I just wanted to let you know what a blessing you guys are and hope to see you drop by southern West Virginia again...SOON!!!!!!

Love that I FINALLY found a band with the sound I was looking for that praises the LORD! I love Him with all my heart and soul and also love rock music. When I was in the world, this was the type of music I listened to yet none of it glorified God, but in fact did quite the opposite. The lyrics from the worldy bands I used to listen to gave me no hope, no joy, no love for others, etc. When I first heard Skillet I thought, "No way! A Christian band with the EXACT sound I love AND they are unashamed to glorify God." Praise the Lord for putting your group together. I am happy to be a Panhead! d3girl

Happy belated Birthday Korey!!!
