Hmm...I wonder, too! ;-) So you write better in song/poem form? I write better in paragraph form. I have tried writing some songs/poetry, but I never could find a niche, you know? Like, I was trying too hard to sound like other songwriters without really finding my own unique voice. But when it comes to paragraphs, I find it easier to express myself. Either way, Emily, I think you have a gift and a talent with writing what's on your heart, and that is beautiful. And I'm sure that you sound amazing on the guitar! I scrolled down to the bottom of this page to get to the comment box, and I noticed some of our conversations from last winter. So today, I tell you the same: If this is the dream God has put on your heart, go after it, Emily! He has great plans for both of us, even though we're still confused about college. I truly appreciate your willingness to open up and be honest about your thoughts and feelings, Emily. I'm here if you need to talk. God bless you. :-)

Deep down, I really want to
Deep down, I really want to do online classes through Liberty University, but I've talked about doing a couple years at a community college, then transferring to a state university. That's not what I really want, but when it comes to college, I don't want to seem to picky or hard to please, you know? Personally, I have no desire to go to college; I just want to be finished with my education and have my career launched and established already. But I feel that I need to further my education--and the idea of having a bachelor's degree in journalism sounds pretty nice. I don't want to wish my youth away, but sometimes I long for it to be four years from now--a time when I'm graduated and really getting a start on my life. Because, personally, I don't consider my official adult life started until my education is complete. But, like you, I find it comforting to know that there are other teens out there that have these same reservations and doubts.
So, you said you have a passion for guitar. That's awesome! Are you writing any songs?
Oh, and I saw your comment on my photo requesting to use/borrow it. I don't mind at all. Go ahead. :D
That's the way I feel about
That's the way I feel about college. I have a vague idea of what I want, but nothing is sure just yet. I do know what I want to major in--journalism. I truly feel called to be a Christian novelist. Writing is in my veins--correction: words are in my veins. Writing is just one of the many poetic outlets (up there with music and lyrics, reading, and journaling...oh, and chatting on Skillet.com!).

I may not always be able to respond to you as quickly as I would like, but I hope that I can always be able to help you and encourage you. My dad was asking me about the decision to go to college again last night...not pressuring me, but just curious. I told him I'd been recently praying about it. He and my mom want only what God wants for me, and I appreciate that. I know for sure that I want to become a Christian novelist (and possibly songwriter), but it's the decision about college that--well, I don't want to say eats away at me, but--you know what I mean, right? But, anyway, on to something less serious. You live in Tennessee, and Skillet is coming to Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga. Did you say you were going to the one in Nashville? Anyway, it's almost bedtime for me, and I have school tomorrow, so I'd better hurry and get off the Internet. God bless you, Emily. Feel free to comment on my profile at any time. Emily, I am so sorry for taking this long to comment back to you. I don't check my profile much, and when I logged on today and saw that you had commented a whole week ago, I knew I shouldn't keep you waiting for my reply. You are not crazy! It means a lot to me that you would share your heart and your thoughts like that! I seem to remember you telling me a few months ago that your family had sort of already planned the future for you. Believe-it-or-not, I know how that feels. By that, I do NOT mean my immediate family, but certain aunts and uncles, though they mean well, have always pressured me into feeling as if I have to go to college and excel and have a majorly successful life. Not that I don't want to excel and be successful, but I want to do what God has called me to do. Actually, I was praying about it this morning during my devotion time...whether or not to go to college. What does He want me to do? Part of me wants to go to college, because most of my favorite writers and my favorite musicians went, but honestly, I just want to be done with schooling and all of that stuff. Emily, I can't tell you whether or not to go to college or pursue a career in music, but I can tell you this: Spend time in God's presence, in prayer, in His Word, everyday (which I'm sure you are already doing). Listen for His Voice. Perhaps you could do a topic search in your Bible on direction and guidance. Either way, I hope and pray that you will know what He wants for your life. Remember, Jeremiah 29:11 says, " 'For I know the plans I have for you,' says the Lord. 'Plans to prosper you, and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future [an expected end, according to the Amplified version].' " God bless you, Emily. Maybe we can chat later.
