About Me:
Hello people, I'm Jacob! I'm a 14 year-old Panhead, and I've lived in Indiana my entire life. I first heard of Skillet almost a year and a half ago on the radio. The station was playing The Older I Get, and I fell in love with the band almost immediately. Later that year, I got Awake for Christmas - thus I say that December 25, 2011 is my official Panniversary! My first Skillet concert was at WinterJam in Indianapolis in 2012, and it was an experience I'll never forget. Since then, I haven't been to any concerts live but have seen three online streams. Here's some other useful things you should know about me: I love eating, playing hockey, music, talking with other people about music, and eating some more. Some of my hobbies include playing hockey several nights a week, watching NASCAR, and staying up late to talk all night in a dark room lit by the TV light. Oh yeah, and I know Skillet lyrics. I'm not afraid to use them. Some of my pet peeves are country music, country music artists who think they're pop artists (I'm looking at you, Swift), filler tracks, and people who disagree with my taste in music. Some things I have on my 'bucket list' would be attending the Olympics, meeting John Cooper or Trevor McNevan, and going to NASCAR's Daytona 500. So there you go - that's me summed up in a paragraph. You are welcome. :)
City:
Hope, Indiana
Hobbies:
I love listening to music, unsurprisingly. I also follow NASCAR and hockey, and have enjoyed playing hockey for many years. Other than treating those obsessions, I do random stuff on social media. A lot. Not bad for an unsocialized homeschooler.
Favorite Bands:
My top ten: 1) Skillet, 2) TFK, 3) Flyleaf, 4) We As Human, 5) Red, 6) FM Static, 7) Love and Death, 8) Disciple, 9) Icon For Hire, and 10) Fireflight. Others I like (in no particular order) are Nine Lashes, Demon Hunter, Pillar, Decyfer Down, Anberlin, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, BarlowGirl, Abandon, Manafest, Don't Wake Aislin, The Letter Black, Seventh Day Slumber, Write this Down, Family Force 5, POD, 12 Stones, Worth Dying For, Adelaine, We Are Leo - jeez, a lot!
Country:
United States
Twitter Name:
@jbehrman53. I have been followed/retweeted/replied to by Thousand Foot Krutch, We As Human, Random Hero, Love and Death, Jake Jones, Aaron Watkins, Trevor McNevan, Joe Rickard, Duncan Phillips, Justin Forshaw, Justin Cordle, Adam Kronshagen, JR Bareis, Steve Augustine, Seth Morrison, and most recently the Doggy, John Cooper! :D
What's Your Favorite Movie Or TV Show?:
Not sure if it counts, but I have to admit that I watch Comatose Comes Alive pretty often! The Skillet podcast is awesome, too. I've seen every one from the past 4 or 5 years multiple times. I'm also big on crime shows... everything from Monk to Cold Case to Numbers. Duck Dynasty is also hilarious to watch.
What's Your Favorite Book?:
Some of my favorite books are in the Left Behind series. And I guess I'll also say the Bible, just by default. ;)
One Interesting Fact About Me Is...:
I am a peanut! I also plan to eat a 5 pound hamburger by myself someday. But I suppose a 5 pound gummy bear would do. Totally unrelated, but I also have a weakness for power ballads. And I have my own diary/journal, which was inspired by FM Static's Dear Diary - I figure that if I have a diary like Trevor McNevan did, I might become like him one day lol. Because he is perfect.

Aawwwwwwww, don't stress out! I believe in you, Jacob! :]

And no, there is absolutely nothing wrong with liking purple, it deos NOT have to mean girly, and don't let anyone convince you otherwiseI I think that is really awesome :) I know this is a weird comparison, but one of my favoritest characters in one of my novels is a guy, and his favorite color has always been purple!!! ;) (he likes grape stuff!!!)

Thanks for the encouragement about the test! :) I feel much better now, that's a bit reassuring :)

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Oh that's cool! No need to beat yourself up, no matter what happens.... But I know you can do it :)

I've actually been busy too, I have to take the SAT coming up in two weeks, and I have an English project, so I have lots of studying too :p

Actually, as long as I've been a member of Skillet.com, my favorite color has been black. My favorite color was blue when I was eleven ;) and yes, black is still my favorite color :) what about you Jacob?

CarpetBakr's picture

Hey, we haven't chatted in a while! How've you been?

Heartonmysleeve's picture

Not too well, but I guess I'm okay... What about you? :)

Hi, you!

W.V.Panhead's picture

Last night was bittersweet--a 3-1 win to cap a three-game winning streak was a rockin' way to end the season, but we waited for several minutes after the Jackets' game for word of the Wild-Avalanche outcome. I was frustrated, to say the least! However, they went out on a bang, and most people believe that they will go far next season. Either way, the shortened 2012-13 season was MUCH more satisfying than the 2011-12 season.

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

I do think that the harmony vocals during the chorus of NS should have been more in the background. It took me a couple of years to detect the melody vocals, no joke! Of course, that's due to my inexperience with music... Nonetheless, "Stay with me here now, and never surrender..."

That depends on what's available. I might as well purchase anything that I will abuse. (This is a reference to my Skillet hat haha.) Another shirt that fits would be nice. So far, I'm two for four. :( And of course, that deluxe is mine! #PhysicalCopies

CUZ I CAN!!!! jkjk

was just replyin to you and saw that convo. :P

drummerboy13's picture

Awesome! It is cool to see people that aren't just like "Yeah I believe in God. . ." But don't show it.

drummerboy13's picture

Are you Christian?

SuntanCity's picture

I agree with Luke as Never Surrender is my Fav from Awake.

I disagree that it was overlooked. It got radio time, and hit well up on the top 20 chart for a few weeks. The songs from awake that were overlooked IMO are Never surrender, Dont wake me, Believe, Sometimes, and shouldve when you couldve. if you want to count bonus', then I think both Dead Inside and WOuld it Matter were both overlooked.

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

By overlooked, I mean that it hasn't received much recognition compared to the "big three."

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Not sure why I took so long to reply... Anyway, I agree with Lucy being an overlooked(that's what makes it a gem) strong track on the album. It can really speak to a person. Anyway, my choice is Never Surrender. The lyrics are a bit bland, but it's extremely relatable and the keyboard effects are simply haunting! The bass is solid as well. It's one of those songs I can just repeat when I'm feeling melancholy, know what I mean? It's also my... twelfth favorite Skillet song. :)

SuntanCity's picture

Youre awesome

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Why thank you! ;)

lulz you are awesome as well Luke

I will probably check up on Mason every so often. I don't really care for Philly too much (it's kind of hard to like a team when they beat your Jackets 9-2 back in November 2011...haha...ouch), but so long as his opponent isn't Columbus, I will continue to support Mason. I truly wish him the best. Still, he's a backup goalie, so I'm not certain when--or even if--he will play before this season ends. I do know that it will be very bittersweet when one of the Jackets slides a goal past him one of these days. Mason was--and as of right now, still is--my favorite player, but I have decided that my ultimate loyalty belongs with my team. :'( :-)

SuntanCity's picture

Hey man. Wondering if you could send me the song. if so, email johniii1252@tampabay.rr.com

W.V.Panhead's picture

Well, that's pretty cool! I figured it had something to do with your jersey number.

The NHL trade deadline came and went. *Sigh* I assumed Columbus would stay out of it this time around, since they seemed to have had a good blend of guys on the roster. I was surprised, however, when I realized that Moore, Brassard, and Dorsett were traded to New York for Marion Gaborik. He seems to be playing hard, however, having scored a goal last night, in his first game with the Jackets. The ultimate disappoint, however, came when I discovered that my favorite player, Steve Mason, the goalie, was traded to Philly. Despite the criticism and difficulties he faced last season, he really refined his technique over the off-season and lockout, and I was truly impressed with his abilities. However, Sergei Bobrovsky took the head netminder's spot, leaving Mason on the bench for most of the season. Apparently, the Jackets' new GM figured he'd be more useful in the trade than as a backup. *Another sigh* I guess it could have been worse: He could have gone to Nashville, the Jackets' biggest rival in the NHL.

W.V.Panhead's picture

Also...just looked at NHL on Yahoo!, and looks like Detroit and Toronto are playing in the 2014 Winter Classic. Thought you'd like to know. :D

W.V.Panhead's picture

What's with the number change? We went from "24" to "53"? #justwondering

tictacthedrumchick's picture

Haha! That's awesome! Well idk what to recommend for you as far as Mike goes. You have an account on disciplerocks.com right? If anyone would know it would be Mary (Wanderingstar). You should PM her.

tictacthedrumchick's picture

ok...out of all the things you could have an in depth conversation about with Joe...why Cheeze-its?

tictacthedrumchick's picture

Ok I'm jealous with the whole twitter thing right now. How did you do that???

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

You! In your opinion, what is the album gem on Awake? The big three singles are excluded, of course.

W.V.Panhead's picture

Yeah, in retrospect, I suppose I prefer it the way it currently is, but apparently that's not going to change anything now. So, are the Wings playing tonight? This evening will more than likely prove to be calm and quiet in my home, since the Jackets won't play until tomorrow, when they take on one of their biggest rivals, the Predators.

W.V.Panhead's picture

Honestly? I was surprised they actually went through with it. I don't know...the Jackets' commentators talked about the benefits of the new standings last night after the game. I guess I can take it or leave it. It's certainly going to put the Jackets up against some pretty rough teams in the playoffs. But, hey, the Jackets and the Wings will still be able to maintain their classic rivalry, right? ;-)

W.V.Panhead's picture

Sorry, man. The Wings played really well this weekend. They did. :-)

W.V.Panhead's picture

Wow, I had no clue that TFK and Disciple had been around that long. I had never even heard of them up until about four or five years ago. Yes, I believe Skillet was formed in '96, but it might have been '97. Luke would probably know.

Seriously? That's too bad. I couldn't imagine not being able to read for extended periods of time; but then you have hockey tournaments and a lot of other stuff that I don't.

CarpetBakr's picture

Haha, well, their personalities can be colorful as well! Cheeky, fun, playful, down-to-earth, responsibly irresponsible, and sometimes childish, they're all wonderful people. :)
Cool! Man, a lot of people on here homeschool! It's always great to meet another. :) What's your favorite subject?

W.V.Panhead's picture

Wow, have Disciple and TFK been around since '97? For some reason, I always thought they were formed about ten or eleven years later. I guess that's because that was when I first started to really hear about them. :P Jars of Clay have been around as long as I have--eighteen years. Well, I suppose they really formed around '93, but they didn't become well-known until their debut album came out in '95. I suppose I waited a little late in their career to become a fan (about a year and a half now), but better late than never definitely applies in this case! ;-) Well, we had "Dead Man" and "Work" on a greatest hits CD for a couple years, but it wasn't until a couple weeks ago that I got "Good Monsters" and "Redemption Songs," thus completing my Jars of Clay discography.

On a different note...how's "Last Light" from "Restoration" going? It's been almost three years since I read that one, but I still have it stashed away with other books under my bed. "Vicious Cycle" from "Intervention" is great, almost better than the first book in the series. I'm about halfway through it on the Kindle.

CarpetBakr's picture

Hahaha, that's true as well! When I said colorful, I was referring to their diversity in hair color-black and blue straight, red and wavy, black and spiky, and brown-blonde-spiky. XD
So, you Homeschool too? :D

W.V.Panhead's picture

I was on YouTube for quite a while last night listening to many of the other tracks from "Memento Mori." "Missing" was dubbed my Flyleaf favorite after I first heard it back in December, but "This Close" would be second for sure. I thought of your playlist when I listened to "Circle" (what a powerful song!), and "Sorrow" was absolutely beautiful.

A very good intro, indeed! :D All three of those songs would be on my top twenty-five favorites by Jars of Clay. "Love Song for a Savior" continues to be a classic; I remember that one from when I was a little girl. "Two Hands" would be from my favorite Jars of Clay album, "The Long Fall Back to Earth." "Dead Man" has always been a favorite in my family; in fact, if you like that one, you'll probably like "Work," too.

I was rambling a bit back there, but as you can more than likely see, I really love Jars of Clay!

Favorite power ballad by Skillet? Hmm...that's tough. "Yours to Hold" is classic, especially live on "Comatose Comes Alive"; but I always enjoyed "Don't Wake Me," if that one counts as a power ballad. It's more of a breakup song, I guess, but I always seemed to connect with it. I think it's the slow rock beats and rhythm, coupled with a sense of melancholy retrospect. But it--along with the rest of "Awake"--always reminds me of summertime.

The Sharks, physical? No kidding. They played in Columbus about two or three weeks ago, and I noticed how aggressive they seem. I guess San Jose is one of those teams fortunate enough to make it to my "leave 'em or take 'em" list. So long as their opponent isn't the Blue Jackets, I don't mind them too much. Still, for your sake, I hope Detroit wins! :D

CarpetBakr's picture

Hello! I do like your profile picture. Skillet's band members seem to be getting more colorful throughout the years! ;)

W.V.Panhead's picture

First off--love the new profile pic! Great photo of the band--they really look different these days, don't they?

Wow, sounds like an interesting mix of music, although out of all of those, "A Little More" was the only one I am personally familiar with. That was one of the Cooper-songwriting-duo's best, in my opinion. Lately, I've really been into "Missing" by Flyleaf. I watched the music video on YouTube one night and absolutely fell in love with the song. Though I haven't yet gotten the album "Memento Mori," I purchased "Missing" on Amazon. I lost track of how many times I listened to it. :P I've also been listening to a lot of The Hawk In Paris and the new Jars of Clay CD I got last week. It's definitely one of my favorites!

Red Wings and Kings, huh? Detroit all the way! ;-)

W.V.Panhead's picture

It was scary, to be sure. We hold Sunday morning/Thursday evening church services at my house (currently in the process of getting a building, though), so I had missed first period. Our congegration had already gone home, so while we put away the stereo and other things, we turned on the game. When Anisimov went down, I prayed and held my breath. Glad to hear he's doing better, though. It could have been much (even permanently) worse.

Yes, there is a silent rivalry between Detroit and Columbus, but it's a healthy type of rivalry, as you implied. Columbus seems to have many rivalries, actually--Nashville, Phoenix, St. Louis, Chicago, LA. I was rattling off all the teams I don't like one day, and my mom laughed and basically asked, "Are there any teams in the NHL that you DO like?" (besides the Jackets, of course). I used to dislike the Red Wings, actually, but they have genuinely earned my respect over the past season. Still, gotta say...Blue Jackets all the way! :P

Sounds like any interesting blend. No, I never really did follow Ben, although I wondered what had happened to him after he left Skillet a couple years ago (goodness, has it been two years already?!).

So, got any particular song and/or album that speaks uniquely to you at the moment?

W.V.Panhead's picture

*Sigh* To make it that far and then lose is, as you said, tough, but it's a different kind of disappointment than regulation loss, huh?

Well, glad to know that! :P I tried to handle my comment yesterday with taste and professionalism, while still pointing out the positives for Columbus this season; although after a few hours I began to review the post in my head and figured I had probably better rectify it. I usually don't get too worked up over many things, but I'm rather sensitive when it comes to my team. The loyalty can be a good thing; I guess we just have to harness our fervor sometimes, huh? :P

So, did you watch the game in Detroit last Thursday? The Jackets played in Hockeytown that night--good game from both teams. I got pretty scared when Anisimov took those blows to his head and fell down unconscious. It was as though an eerie hush fell over the entire arena. Still, he went back to Columbus the next day and, as far as I know, seems to be doing better, though I don't know when he'll return.

I've actually never listened to Icon For Hire, although I hear about them quite a bit on the Skillet.com discussions forums. I'm assuming they're either hard or alt rock?

W.V.Panhead's picture

Sounds as though you did pretty well! But 13 rounds of shootout and then a loss??? That IS a heartbreak! :'( The Jackets went OT last night after tying the game 4-4 with a little more than 1:30 in the game. The Stars scored the game-winning goal. It was one of those that I could clearly see--one that didn't "come out of nowhere." Frustrating, but OT usually means they played well, regardless of the ultimate outcome.

I do apologize if I sounded too opinionated about the Jackets in my comment yesterday. I felt bad about it the rest of the day and tried to access my profile so I could apologize, but our Internet was out for the whole evening. Now it's Wednesday morning, and everything seems to be in order. Anyway, I'm sorry for any bad attitudes I might have conveyed. I've been rather sensitive about my team for the past few weeks, and reading Yahoo!'s writers and others' comments on the recap pages doesn't help. But I know you didn't mean anything by that remark, and I apologize.

Um...not that I can think of, other than The Hawk In Paris (which is the solo project of Jars of Clay's lead singer), who is rumored to release some new music later this year. I don't listen to a whole lot of different music--just the stuff I can really connect with an an emotional and intellectual level. Lately, though, I've been getting into Flyleaf. Thinking about buying "Memento Mori." How 'bout you? Got any new CD's other than Skillet that you're looking forward to?

W.V.Panhead's picture

So, how'd it go at the tournament?

Book one was really good, although I must say that my personal favorite was three, "True Light."

Well...um...that's kind of a hard pill to swallow. The Jackets aren't doing quite as well as I had hoped, but I don't think they're doing as badly as everyone else would think. No, they haven't gotten too many wins under their belt thus far, and no, they probably won't be going to the playoffs this year. But actually, my family and I believe they're playing much better than they did last year. They're not always at the top of their game, but I can tell a difference. I think confidence is key. I am definitely impressed with Mason's ability this time around. He really worked on his technique over the summer and seems to be sharper, more confident now. They come back home to Nationwide Arena to play the Dallas Stars tonight. Hope they do well.

W.V.Panhead's picture

Really? How cool is that! I just finished "Intervention" on the Kindle yesterday and started "Vicious Cycle." My favorite series by her, though, would probably be "Restoration," the one about the worldwide power outage. How about you?

tictacthedrumchick's picture

and I can't stand Canadian jokes. I have too much respect for TFK.

tictacthedrumchick's picture

being totally honest, I'll be doing whatever God has planned for me. I'm not sure exactly what that is, but I'm trusting him that he has something planned out. I do know my music will be a major part of that though. So whether I end up working for some random record label (hopefully not tooth and nail- I could never live in Seattle) or working part-time as a studio musician or actually touring, I'm trusting God has control.

tictacthedrumchick's picture

haha that is random. Basically in my dream I had this long convo with Trev. We started out talking about the music industry in general since I'm considering perusing a degree in music business, and from there the conversation went down hill. By then end of my dream we were talking about my brother and how much I hate it when he makes Canadian jokes.

tictacthedrumchick's picture

btw I had a very vivid dream last night about getting to meet Trevor. It was wick awes :)

tictacthedrumchick's picture

DISCIPLE!!!, The Letter Black, KJ-52, TobyMac always performs, Royal Taylor, and a few other bands I can't think of at the moment. My only wish is that Trev could find two people to fill in on Guitar and Bass so FM Static could be added.

W.V.Panhead's picture

Cool! And thanks for the warning...haha!

Yes, I absolutely adore reading! :D Over the past three and a half years or so, I have read 113 books--both my own and library loans--and have currently collected about 116. I worked for years toward the official "start" of my personal library--100 books. Christmas and a recent birthday helped me pass that point, so the current goal is 200! Um...favorite genre? Let's see...virtually anything Christian/inspirational. My top three favorite authors include Tracie Peterson, Cindy Woodsmall, and Beverly Lewis. Their works are usually richly textured, woven with a trace of intrigue, and filled with just the right amount of heart and emotion. But I also enjoy suspense/mystery by Terri Blackstock and Colleen Coble. Though I received a Kindle for Christmas a couple months ago and truly enjoy a touch of "modern" in my life, I still remain a true bibliophile, constantly searching for the next few books to add to my physical collection.
