When I was 11, my mother told me about Skillet. She told me that they were a Christian band and that my brother enjoyed them. During this time in my life I did not know about Christian rock bands so I just assumed that Skillet was a slow worship band and I was in to secular rock music at that point. We were away for most of June at my Grandmother's house in Indiana. The two albums "Collide" and "Comatose" were on the ipod I was listening to and one night I had a tug on my heart to just listen to one song to see what they were like. "The Last Night" was the song I picked and even though I did not want to admit it then, I liked what I heard. I became a fan a couple of weeks later after I decided to listen to both albums. The songs "Rebirthing", "The Last Night", "Open Wounds", and "Collide" became favorites of mine immediately after listening to them one time. I became a huge fan of "Comatose", "Savior", "Whispers In The Dark", "Imperfection", "Better Than Drugs", "Falling Inside The Black", "Looking For Angels", and "Forsaken" later. "Rebirthing" was probably the actual song that got me hooked on Skillet though. I loved it as soon as the intro started. Skillet's music has brought me a lot closer to God during the difficult times my family has been going through. My father has been unemployed for over two years but God has been providing. Thank you Skillet for making such awesome music with uplifting lyrics!
I really wish that I would have found Skillet a lot earlier, but I stumbled upon the rebirthing music video. Ever since then I have been a Skillet fan and have fallen in love with their older albums such as Collide and Alien Youth.
Hero when I started to hear Jen sing. haha I was actually really suprised by that because before I actually saw a picture of the band or heard a full song, I thought the band was made up of four dudes.
