Openings: Sometimes can make or break your desire to hear the entire Skillet has plenty of fantastic openings but we've managed to narrow them down to just Ten, so if your favorite one isn't on here then SORRY. So here we go
10.Alien Youth-Kinda unusual but there's no denying that it's one of the most recognizable openings in Skillet's library. Complete with a rocking guitar riff and a phrase that has been solidified with Skillet's legacy.

9.Awake and Alive- A kick butt violin, cello and guitar solo help make Awake and Alive one of the greatest Skillet songs of all time. But the thing that keeps it from being higher on the list is the fact that it had to be shortened to make it sound more rockish in order to be played on rock radio

8.Dead Inside- It's a shame that this song hasn't been played live because it would've sounded great. The guitar is phenomenal it really is a great example of Ben Kasica's talent.

7.Monster- A heavy rock riff that instantly recognized among both Skillet fans and rock n roll fans even if you don't know who Skillet is you know this song.

6.Sometimes- A slightly better riff than Monster Sometimes would be as popular as Monster if not more if had been released as a single I call Sometimes the twin sister of Monster since they both have the same message.

5.Better Than Drugs-Christian Rock at it's finest. At concerts last year John used this song's opening to get fans pumped up by telling them to JUMP!,JUMP!, JUMP!

4..Comatose-An opening that sends chills down your spine, Comatose can be described as Skillet's signature sound. As I said before there's a reason Skillet's most successful album was called Comatose and not Rebirthing

    3. Falling Inside the Black- An opening that sends chills down your spine and pumps you up from the inside and out. Skillet I think I speak for everyone at Skillet.com when I said please play this song live!!!!

2.Hero-Much like Monster an opening than EVERYONE recognizes instantly and gets every person out of their seat at concerts complete with one of the best guitar riffs in the history of music and with great pyro at concerts Hero was a no brainer for this list and without a doubt deserves a spot this high

1.Whispers in the Dark-Think about it when you go out to concerts and you hear the violin version of Whisper's opening your heart starts pumping and you get excited knowing the extravaganza is about to start.

Skillet does know how to use strings in their songs amazingly. The songs wouldnt be the same without them.

I'll do my top 5...

1. Rebirthing
2. Savior
3. Collide
4. Awake and Alive
5. Comatose

"Better Than Drugs" is most definitely a classic. I can remember blasting it on the stereo even before I recommitted my life to Jesus, because it's such a delicious rock anthem and, in my eyes, a passionate love song to our Lord and Savior. And, yes, I remember at Winterjam 2012 when the violin opening for "Whispers in the Dark" screamed across the Charleston Civic Center. It was haunting and beautiful, stirring and energetic. Electrifying, even... I do believe "Forsaken" should have been on that list--because that was some of Skillet's best rock and John's best writing--but regardless of that, your list is amazing just the way it is, Cole.

I think the openings to Collide and Never Surrender should be on here though.

10, 9, 8, 5, and 4. I somewhat agree with 6, 3, 2, and 1. I disagree with 7. In my opinion Collide is #1, Whispers #2, and Hero #3. Sometimes should only be on the list if it's the iTunes Session version. Savior should replace Monster. Remember, what I just pointed out is just my opinion.

Stormbringer's picture

What ones do you agree with?

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

I don't know what I'd choose.

RitualVladmir's picture

id actually put savior in instead of rebirthing

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Or even Savior.

RitualVladmir's picture

well instead of monster use rebirthing

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

The guitar riff is simple. I can think of numerous Skillet songs will superior intros.

RitualVladmir's picture

no monster should be because its instantly recognizable and it has sick guitar and drum to it wich gets you extremly pumped

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Monster should not even be on the list.

RitualVladmir's picture

i think collide should take monsetrs place but monster get shafted to ten, and alien youth should replace falling inside the black

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Yeah, I never voted because I was away.

Stormbringer's picture

To be honest this list was kinda rushed into making and I should waited for more people to vote.

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

They should know that the Collide intro is amazing.

Stormbringer's picture

Hey they voted on it.

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

This list is incomplete without Collide! Monster's intro is overrated as always.

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

What about "Collide"?

Stormbringer's picture

:) jk

Stormbringer's picture

no

snowboarder50's picture

Are you gonna tell us Cole?

RitualVladmir's picture

B-Man_1998's picture

i have succeeded at hearing every Skillet song in one day (at least all the albums not EP's) so i guess it is Savior

snowboarder50's picture

Whispers In the Dark?

Stormbringer's picture

What do you think 1 is?
