Well, what I meant was do you believe that baptism is necessary for salvation. . .which you obviously don't. . .I thought I could tell by some of the stuff you said. I believe that to be saved, you need to be baptized, like in Acts 2:38 and in any of the conversion stories in Acts. So I guess you say the sinner's prayer?
Baptism? What exactly do you mean by believing in it? I don't know too much about baptism. Jesus did say that He wants us to do this. And it is an outward display of our committment to Christ, but what I know for sure is that being baptized is not essential to be saved and make it to heaven.
Think about it this way, Zebraluvr (you may have heard this before): if someone commits a really bad crime, such as murder, and they have to go before the judge, would it be fair for the judge to forgive them and let them go free? No, of course not. They need to judge them guilty. That's the same thing God does. It's just not right to let those kinds of people into Heaven.
Oh, and Luke, I think you're good at this :) Do you believe in baptism?
By the way, God does not exactly send people to hell. God is holy and cannot allow anyone less than perfect to enter heaven. But if we believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, confess our sins, and ask for forgiveness, Jesus lives in us. So when we die, God sees Jesus(who lived a holy and blameless life on earth and was the perfect sacrifice) in our hearts and not all the sins we committed. John 14:6 states that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one gets to the Father except through Jesus. There is no alternative. Thus, if we are saved, we are permitted entrance into heaven. But those who reject God in front of men will be rejected by God Himself and will not live in paradise with Him.
Yes, my name is Luke. Maybe one day I will be able debate others in Christian/religion/Bible matters. This site is a good way for me to polish my writing skills(or lack of) and practice discussing controversial subjects.
thx for agreeing killitwithSkillet14 (Luke, right?). I think you said that very well. I will be praying for you too Zebraluvr. Please consider all of our points.
Snowboarder50 is right. If you know John 3:16 for example, you know it states that anyone who believes in God's Son Jesus will not perish but have eternal life. Jesus is the only name on earth by which we are saved. So now, If someone does NOT believe in Jesus by the time he dies, does that person still have eternal life, or are they separated from God. Seems pretty obvious to me. If everyone went to heaven, then why does that verse exist? Why was Jesus sent into the world to take the punishment of all mankind and save us from our sins if we attain everlasting life regardless? In fact, the entire Bible would pretty much become irrevelant then. Just live your life the way you want. It doesn't matter. Many people always argue that God is a God of love and would never send people to hell. Yes, He is a God of love and His desire is for everyone to live with Him. But He is also a just God. He will not acquitt the wicked. Now on the subject of suicide, I can't give much of an answer. But I lean towards the opinion of people going to hell if they kill themselves as long as they don't have a severe mental condition or something. And if a true Christian were to somehow intentionally kill himself while sane, then they must have decided to give up on God and not trust Him anymore. If that's the case, then I can't see how they go on to live in paradise for taking their own life and not leaning on God through their struggles. There is a lot more I could say on the subject of hell, but I don't have the time, patience(iPod touch is not the best way to type long comments on this site), and characters. But I hope and pray that what Snowboarder and I said will change your mind.
Your statement doesn't have very much logic. You obviously believe there is a God. Well, His Word clearly states that there is a Heaven, and there is a Hell. You obviously don't believe the Bible, or at least not all of it. If you believe in God, you will believe His Word.
i personally don't think that there is a hell at all, just something to scare people into behaving and make them live ''Gods way". i think that everybody goes to heaven no matter what you do on earth. God made everything and everybody on this earth. When people die they go to heaven because that is where they are destined to go. God wants everybody to live in his heaven with him, and never have to worry about anything bad. When you enter heaven you get to live eternally with God. It doesn't matter how you get there. The only thing that you are messing with is God's plan for your life. When you kill yourself you are shortening your time here on earth and you don't get to fulfill God's plans........Just my thoughts
well if you think about God says that your body is a temple. if you really are taking care of their body for Christ, cuz it's not your own, it's his, then you wouldn't even commit suicide at all. but like ppl have said, God is the judge. I just think that true followers of Christ will not even consider the idea of committing suicide.
I dont really have an answer but I believe that if you truly have Jesus in your heart you won't commit dsuicide becuse you can take the stirms of life and he will carry you through it and theres no reason to commit suicide with Jesus
Suicide doesn't equal heaven. I know I had no answer the other day, but I have one now. Killing anyone, even yourself, is a crime against God. It is still murder, and you will have to answer for it on Judgement Day. Suicide also doesn't kill someone instantly, but instead it takes a few minutes.
My point is this-we don't know who goes to heaven regardless of how they die because only our Lord Jesus knows our heart and can see into it. I don't know if my son is there or not we never got a chance to have that discussion, but I will continue to pray that he is. Thank you for your words and prayers Eater.
So Skilletfannz, so what I hear you say is that its ok to murder someone ( or multiple people ) as long as you are still alive toask to be forgiven. But if you commit suicide you can't be forgiven because you can't ask it?
Well skilletfannz they mite but even still people don't want to die normally. There are metal problems with people that kill themselves, and people forced to god is merciful. However it's a common mistake by many to think when u die u go to heaven but as of right now no one but those chosen by god are in heaven. It says it in the bible.
One Of The Ten Commandments is do not murder, throughout the bible it states once or more that we do not have the right to take our own lives - I can just about guarantee you that if you commit suicide you will go to hell. Besides if we did have the freedom to take our own lives and still go to Heaven, wouldn't every be doing that because Heaven is a lot better than on this earth?
Okay, I'm hoping this will provide some answers to what happens to someone who commits suicide. The article seems to be very accurate and the author uses Bible verses to back up what he is trying to say. I'm warning you though that it will most likely disappoint a lot of you. Here are two links:
katie11338, im so sorry to hear about your son...i can't imagine what you must be going through. i will keep you in my prayers for a LONG time. i think, if one does suicide out of confusion, sadness, or feeling like their wortless, and sad emotions like that, they dont do to Hell. they go straight up to Heaven, where Jesus tells them, that their not worthless in the least, and God will make them feel better, wash all of their sadness wash away, clear up their confusion, and all that good stuff. so, KATIE 11338, you son is FOR SURE in heaven, and if theres one other thing for sure, it's that OUR GOD WOULD NEVER SEND SOMEONE TO SATAN BECAUSE THEY COMMITED SUICIDE! NEVER! he is truly a forgiving God, and he will comfort you in your time of loss. always remember that He is with you and your son for sure, always.
@Knight, I certainly hope you never have a kid that "slits" his wrists. Because I pray that you never have to go through and see the child you gave life to and raised was in so much pain, that he blew his head off and you get to live with that image for the rest of your life! I truly pray that you nor your family ever has to go through that agony.
@DisturbedMetallicaMan Do not talk to Knight like that. You might not agree with what he says but it's extremely immature to act all rude and make insulting remarks like that. That's all I have to say.
It's cause he is. U don't have to ask for forgiveness every time u sin. He forgave every sin u have done and will do. U accept his forgiveness and your forgiven. Let's say u sin and your so busy u don't get a chance to pray. And u die 5 min later... By your retarded logic Katie u go to hell. So u live right and love Jesus your whole life, but u sin and die 5 min later. that whole life live for Jesus don't matter cause u go to hell. Your a idiot. And yes knowing someone will kill u is suicide. Today it's often called suicide by cop. God is a merciful god. The 9/11 suicides... Or those done in war so there not tourchred. They do not go to hell.
My son committed suicide and I totally believe that he is in heaven. People who commit suicide are not rational and whole. They are suffering from some kind of mental illness, so what, if God says your crazy too bad for you? No one knows a persons heart but God. Don't try to second guess. If Jesus is truly in your heart then God takes care of you.
And if you sin you have to repent ask for his forgiveness and receive it and then you are clean again it's written in the word. But the bible says DON'T KILL. So when you kill yourself you can't ask for forgiveness because your dead, so you go to hell. I guess you didn't hear the story about the woman who was a Christian and God told her to take the long way to work on 9/11 so she did and she missed the chaos that day and a few other people came up and said that the Lord warned them to stay away from work that day and they lived. But the media won't put that stuff on the air. You have to be born again to go to heaven anyway, and about Jesus killing himself. Knowing people are going to kill you and killing yourself are two different things. You can't even begin to compare God sending Jesus to the earth to die and rise again for the sins of the world to some kid slitting his wrists. YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT HIS SALVATION! and repent when you sin and sin no more, it's written in the word.
Don't listen to most! u go to heaven. If u are a true christan god forgave u for everything when he died on the cross. He dont say ohhh sorry can't forgive that one... With that logic the people that didn't want to burn to death on 9/11 and jumped out the building all went to hell, Not even close. also if u think about it Jesus committed suicide, he came to earth knowing he would be killed. God, Jesus forgave u the day he died all u do is accept forgiveness. People have so many hypocritical ideas. God don't pick and chose what he will forgive. Thats such a earthly view. He forgives everything.

It would be best if you stick close to the Lord if you're thinking about it, 'cause He's the only one who knows the real answer to this question.
