Yeah you never know what faith is until you don't understand.

KillitwithSkillet14's picture

Remember this, Cole? You obviously understand now that you can't be born a Christian. Anyway, I am going to comment on Knight's profile.

I have always grown up in a Christian household--in fact, my parents are also my pastors. When I was about four years old, I asked Jesus into my heart and lived for Him for about ten years. But then I went through some personal issues and walked away from God, telling myself I wanted nothing to do with Him. I never told anyone else during that time that I had forsaken my faith, although I still attended church. As a homeschooled teenager, I had decided that I wanted to be a writer when I grow up and was already planning on which college I would eventually attend. During my time away from God, my parents took me and my siblings to a SKILLET concert, and I was hooked! Along the way, God used Skillet's music to minister to me, even though I resisted the Christian message so revelant in songs like "Whispers in the Dark," "Comatose," "Forgiven," and "Awake and Alive." Then, almost a year ago (Sept. 6, 2010, to be exact), through a series of circumstances, I found myself longing for God's love in my life and gave my life back to Jesus. To this day, I am serving my Heavenly Father, planning to become a Christian author when I grow up, and in little more than a week, I'll be celebrating the one-year anniversary of my spiritual re-birthday!

Sorry my testimony is so long, but I just had to post it! If you're reading this, I hope you're encouraged! God bless you, fellow Panheads!!!!!

Ever since I was little my Dad used to tell me stories about God and the things that he had done in the bible and how he died for my sins and was coming back. I was very little and you would expect me not to understand what he was saying but my dad said that when he told me the story of jesus dying on the cross that I cried. I got saved by my Dad that very same day. And got baptized a few years later. Been a christian ever since.

Christ has pursued me all of my life. And even though I have had some really awful experiences with churches that would make and indeed have made some lose faith in or never even find the Lord, He has been greater than all of it. He found me and kept me and revived me with His love. I started listening to Skillet during and in the aftermath of a really difficult time in my life when I felt forsaken by everyone but God. When I was depressed about everything, God brought me the joy that made it worth getting up in the morning.

How do I know? I know because I know God. I know His Spirit and the sound of His whisper in my heart and mind and soul. I know what God is like, more and more all the time. I know His love and I know that I am changing and will change because of it. I have hope and expectation of what He promises, and it's breathtaking to contemplate. It is so good that I will gladly trade anything and everything I have or will ever have for it. I love Him and I know He loves me epically and sacrificially and I accept His proposal as expressed in His Word.

I had been home schooled for 4 years and was ready to end it all. my mom is nuts ( and i mean NUTS!) and was beating me. i went to a Christian school for a year and became friends with some of the kids there. I told them what was happening and they led me to Christ!! I am forever grateful to them. (the school was Grace and Peace Academy, please like them on Facebook)

GLORY AND HONOR AND POWER AND PRAISE TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST!

Continuing my story. When the summer of 2010 came, I vowed to become a better Christian and truly live for God. I began to read the Bible, have devotions, and pray every day. I began to grow spiritually after I did this and now God is like a close friend. Listening to Skillet daily and watching their uplifting speeches helped a lot too. Seventh grade also was my most successful school year after a disappointing sixth grade based on my expectations. I'm homeschooled by the way. My mom liked reading different stories about other people's lives and how God has affected them. Or maybe about how we should treat people. These stories have increased my parent's faith and mine. They are truly amazing people now who go to God first when there's a problem. Then on July 18, 2011 my dad finally got a call from a technology center whom he had two interviews with. He was informed that he got the job. We were so ecstatic! God finally rewarded us for being faithful to Him. I'm so glad we went through this testing experience because during this time, God really molded us and changed our hearts. This is my testimony. Sorry it's two huge posts long.

Hmm, let's see. I was raised in a Christian home that was not extremely strict. Unlike some old-fashioned parents' restrictions, We could listen to rock music, dress a little more freely, etc... My church is more modern but still follows the basic principles of the Bible. I have been going to the same church since I was a few months old. I was always trying to live for God just waiting until I was old enough to truly understand what it means to become a Christian. I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was ten but my life didn't have a huge change. Nothing much happened until I was almost eleven when I began going through adolescence/puberty pre-maturely. My dad lost his job that same year which was in September of 2008 and life began to get very challenging for my family and me. My dad was an electrical engineer and where we live, that field was becoming somewhat obsolete. We were possibly going to sell our house and move to another state that had better options. But the Lord provided for throughout the long process. During the summer of 2009, my parents and I traveled to Indiana to visit my grandmother. She was deathly ill though and after a few weeks she passed away. But she had been saving money for a long time so that when she was gone, my dad would gain the money and help our situation. It's amazing how the Lord turns works out everything for good! One night when my parents were in some store and I was in the car listening to music on my dad's ipod, I had this urge to listen to a Christian band that my mom told me about. That band was Skillet. I listened to "The Last Night" and liked what I heard but still continued to listen to secular songs.( non-swearing though) But on the way home from this trip I once again felt as if I should try some more Skillet songs. I did and I was immediately hooked. The albums Collide and Comatose were on the ipod and they will always have a special place in my heart. That's how I discovered Skillet. This comment is too long now.

Thats a good question. I really don't hae a good solid answer but, I would say when you've accepted christ in your heart and belive Christ died on the cross for your sins.
