I am not discussing this with
I am not discussing this with you anymore by the way.
Argh, this is keeping me
Argh, this is keeping me finishing my school!
You probably think it's weird
You probably think it's weird that my responses are almost immediate. Anyway, you don't think I'm saved. I know I'm saved. I cannot deny what Jesus has done for me. All you are doing is bringing anger and doubt into my life. It is not right for me to second guess my salvation I have received through Jesus Christ, especially when I already know the truth. And why did you not acknowledge the proof I gave below that I am a true Christian? Also, how can I judge you? I don't know your heart. But I will say this, what you believe sounds like a cult.
And in the same way, I don't
And in the same way, I don't mean to make you mad or offended by saying you aren't saved, it's just that . . . well, I'm sorry, and I don't mean to press it, but that's what I think. Do you think I'm saved?
This is the second time in
This is the second time in the last month that I have been told that I was deceived or wasn't a true Christian. Once indirectly, now directly. So that is why I sound angry. Did you know that I feel guilty just being upset with you? The Holy Spirit lives inside me, that's why. So if I have been too rude and defensive towards you, I'm sorry. And I just read another article about this. I cannot be anymore confident of my salvation at this point. Also, there aren't that many verses about baptism. Even Paul said that Jesus didn't send him to baptize, but to preach the gospel. Really, all I want is for you to believe me when I say that I am saved.
Yep, same with me. It seems
Yep, same with me. It seems like as soon as a Christian does something wrong, they get caught, whereas when a non-Christian does something, they don't get caught. I guess that's God's way of saying, hey don't do this. (or is it just me?)
Why do I get the feeling you're really mad at me and don't like me much anymore?
Hmm, I wonder why every time
Hmm, I wonder why every time I sin, my conscience is pricked like crazy. That is the Holy Spirit. Whenever I ask God for forgiveness, a sudden wave of peace sweeps over me that I cannot describe. I love reading the Bible, and many things in it are clear to me. I understand it; a non-Christian does not grasp it like a true Christian does.
I didn't say you weren't. I
I didn't say you weren't. I said I didn't THINK you were saved but only God knows your heart.
I am going to heaven.
I am going to heaven.
I never said I don't care.
I never said I don't care. You don't have to get defensive about anything. I'm not trying to attack you or anything. Have I even said anything bad about you? The reason I'm saying this is cuz I DO care. Obviously, I want to go to Heaven. And before you get mad about that, I'm not trying to say you're on your way to Hell or anything so don't get me wrong. I was trying to keep this at a friendly debate but that didn't work.
I'm such an idiot for
I'm such an idiot for reviving this when it was no longer being commented on. :(
everybody just cool it...
everybody just cool it... Personally, I'm on Luke's side with this one, but can't we all just get along? The main point is that we all love Jesus. We'll sort out all the controversial stuff when we get to heaven.
Your beliefs are twisted,
Your beliefs are twisted, whether you think so or not. Again, In my heart I know I'm a Christian. I have proof of that, but you clearly don't care.
well obviously I won't change
well obviously I won't change your mind and you won't change mine. . . .although I don't see how it's ridiculous and I don't see how I'm ridiculous. :(
Late for what?
My comment was late.
My comment was late.
Wow, you are ridiculous. This
Wow, you are ridiculous. This is the most pointless thing I have ever been involved in. You have convinced me of nothing because again, I already know the truth and what you believe is not the truth. Case closed, discussion over.
One more thing: I'm not
One more thing: I'm not trying to insult or offend you. Please don't be mad at me for sharing my beliefs and I won't be mad at you. :)
And, it seems like you ignore
And, it seems like you ignore verses about baptism, while taking verses that have faith and adding the word only. instead of 'by faith you are saved' some people change it into 'by faith only you are saved.' The Bible NEVER says anything like that. The only time it talks about 'faith only' is in James, which I have already gone over.
First of all, the thief on
First of all, the thief on the cross. The new covenant was established when Jesus died. Baptism wasn't instituted until after that time. Therefore, Jesus is not a liar. Second, 1 Pet 3:21. I can see where you're coming from. It says that the baptism isn't removal of filth from the flesh. That doesn't mean that you're not supposed to do it. It means that the baptism is much more important than that and you do it with a good conscience.
Also, you are way off on 1
Also, you are way off on 1 Peter 3:21. "There is also an antitype which now saves us - baptism, not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ." It blantantly states that baptism with water(which removes the filth of the flesh) doesn't save us!
All misinterpretations. I am
All misinterpretations. I am not explaining why because I do not have the time. But answer this because you ignored it the first time. Jesus told the thief on the cross that he would be with Him in paradise because he believed. And do not tell me that maybe he was baptized at some point in his life. No one can make a legit argument against this. If baptism is essential for everlasting life, then Jesus is a liar and the entire Bible can't be trusted.
Actually there ARE verses in
Actually there ARE verses in the bible that say baptism is necessary for salvation
1 Peter 3:21 says "There is also an antitype which now
saves us - baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good
conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ." It says that baptism saves us.
Col. 2:11-13 reads "In Him you were also circumcised with he circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God who raised Him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all your trespasses," So after we've repented (put off the sins of the flesh), we're baptized IN FAITH. After that, it says that He forgives us of all our sins. That's BECAUSE of the baptism.
Gal. 3:26-29 says "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to that promise." In verse 27 it clearly says that to put on Christ, we need to be baptized. Continuing on, in 29, it says that if we are Christ's, we receive the promise - eternal life.
Don't forget that Jesus Himself was baptized. Matthew 3:13-15 "Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by You, and You are coming to me?" 15 But Jesus answered and said to Him, "Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed Him. Jesus said it was righteous to be baptized. And John knows it is, too. He says that Jesus should be baptizing him. Of course, Jesus didn't need to be baptized as He had no sins to wash away. But like I said, it was so He did all things righteous.
I hope you have time to read through this. I'd appreciate it if you did. I know, it's a bit lengthy.
cool
cool
Yeah, I haven't been baptized
Yeah, I haven't been baptized yet(I will in the near future). But I know I'm saved.
Yeah, I was...still just a
Yeah, I was...still just a kid, you know.
and to reiterate your point,
and to reiterate your point, Luke, Ephesians 2:8 says we are saved by grace, not by works. It doesn't read "we are saved by grace, not by works...except for baptism". Works are good and while they show the world that you are a true Christian, just because you aren't baptized doesn't mean you are a Christian. I got saved when I was 5, but I got baptized when I was 6 or 7. So according to the people that believe that baptism is necessary for salvation, does that mean I got saved at 6 or 7??? Just want to throw that out there.
